In celebration of the Great British Bake Off ending this week, we made a Lemon Drop cocktail after it was mentioned on the show. Although we personally think someone else should have won (#JusticeForLiam), GBBO is always one of my favourite shows each year. It’s just so wholesome and fun, with none of the competitive bitchiness that is rampant in a lot of other cooking shows, especially American ones. Here, everyone helps each other and you can really see the camaraderie that develops over the weeks.
Somewhat controversially, my fiancé and I also loved the addition of Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig as the hosts; they were smart, fun and, in Noel’s case, just a little bit childish. Even Prue was a hit in our household as she had a more gleeful edge to her than Mary did. Not dissing on Mrs B, love that lady, but Prue was a great replacement in my opinion.
Anyway, enough of my waffling about GBBO – the Lemon Drop was an impromptu drink selection but it was a great one. It’s very sharp as you would expect from a lemon based drink, but very enjoyable to the last drop. The simple syrup and sugar rim also help balance the flavours a bit more, so it’s actually quite refreshing. If you like sour drinks, or lemon, then this is definitely a good pick for you.
