The name alone should give you an idea of what sort of cocktail this is. Grass Skirt – it gives you images of wonderful tropical islands, lying on a sunbed on a warm beach somewhere and sipping a chilled drink. It’s not far off the reality at all; between the cointreau, pineapple juice and grenadine this cocktail has a lot of fruitiness and would be a good choice for a BBQ or garden party with friends.
I personally made it with Lidl’s Castelgy London Dry gin – which is extremely dry and honestly I probably wouldn’t buy it again – so I would try a lighter, fresher gin if you have the option. Aside from that though, it’s pretty good as it is although if i’m being completely honest, it doesn’t exactly set the world on fire.
A nice summer cocktail. Shame that it’s October!
♦ 1 ½ ounces gin
♦ 1 ounce Cointreau
♦ 1 ounce pineapple juice
♦ ½ teaspoon grenadine
Shake the ingredients with ice and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
